Each December, close to Christmas, the Fillmore Search and Rescue team purchases, wraps, and distributes gifts to children in need. A small team drives one of the VCSAR1 trucks out to each home and is in turn gifted with the joy of beaming children and parents.
The effort starts weeks in advance. Children to receive gifts are identified, and the team contacts their parents to learn the child’s sizes and wants. Then gifts are purchased, wrapped, and otherwise prepped for delivery. Then, of course, the gifts are driven to the child’s home and delivered.
Team 1 is gratified to perform this service, one of many we undertake each year to the Fillmore and Ventura County communities.
