Mountain Fire Fallout
In early November, our team was requested to assist the Office of Emergency Services and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (OES/VCSO) in conducting Fire Damage Assessment in the Mountain Fire burn areas. As shown in the nearby burn map, the fires affected many homes in the Camarillo and surrounding areas.
To assist with evacuation and damage assessment, team members brought County vehicles, motorized equipment (SxS, e-bikes), and assorted personal gear including goggles and masks.
At least one team member’s house was directly threatened by the fires, but fortunately his home was spared.
Ongoing Assessment
Ventura County Sheriff Emergency Services and the Cal Fire Damage Assessment Team continued to assess and validate structures impacted by the Mountain Incident. The full assessment was expected to conclude by 11/16/2024.
